Description:
With the outbreak of Coronavirus; testing, social distancing, and handwashing have helped prevent the spread of this disease. One area responsible for the further spread is frequently touched surfaces in offices, stores, and workplace areas (i.e. door handles). We believe the Cad Crowd community can help prevent the spread by creating open-source product designs for public spaces.
The contest involves creating products that will be shared under a publicly downloadable open source license (Creative Commons). The goal is to develop designs that can be quickly and affordably produced with 3D printing and/or off the shelf basic components (i.e. pre-made parts that are readily available).
Wants:
Some product ideas include no-touch door handles, no-touch doorknob attachments for houses/senior living spaces, and no-touch faucets. These are just examples, and we’ll consider all new product concepts that are practical, affordable, simple to produce and can be easily cleaned (see attachment with product examples/ideas).Please submit your design entry with images, a neutral file format (.igs, .stp, .fbx, .obj, .x3d, etc.) and a native file format if applicable (SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA, Creo, NX, 3ds max, etc.). In add-on, please upload your entry as a downloadable file into our new CAD library so that others can view and download designs - www.cadcrowd.com/3d-models/new
Thanks for your help with slowing the spread of this disease in public spaces and please ask any questions in the comments area below. All participants that submit a high-quality entry will receive an additional 50 bonus points for contest participation. In addition, we’re aiming for corporate sponsorship to increase the value and number of prizes available for this contest.
Cheers,
MacKenzie
Additional Information
Hi All, thanks for the great entries! Will work through these designs with colleagues over the coming days and reply with feedback. To re-iterate on contest goals: we want to create open-source designs that anyone can download, easily produce (3D print or create with commonly available parts) and use in public spaces. This means that all designs are currently downloadable by everyone (i.e. peers, companies, media, etc.) to immediately reduce the spread of COVID-19 and ideally save lives.
Please remember to read the description/evaluation criteria for consideration and submit your design as a downloadable file in the CAD library ( www.cadcrowd.com/3d-models/downloadable ).
To help with judging, we’ve enabled peer reviews (temporary) - we want your help short-listing the entries that you feel would be useful in the workplace. As a side note, the Autodesk Viewer ( viewer.autodesk.com/ ) is a great tool for viewing CAD files if you don't have compatible software. Please keep comments polite and professional to maintain a positive/creative environment. Send me a private message if you have concerns about derivative designs that seem to closely follow designs from other users without adding any substantial changes or value.
Open collaboration ( bit.ly/3dhVqrP ) for design entries is permitted if it’s mutually agreed to between yourself and the other designer(s). In this case, prizes would be split between participants and hopefully, we’ll get some extra sponsorship to make that worthwhile. *Note: Cad Crowd does not guarantee that design entries will prevent transmission of the novel Coronavirus.

Discussion
Hi everyone, please check out entry number 116. I have an interesting approach to avoid the stated problem. Obviously always open for suggestions and improvements.
And also the files with numbers are just image, I put the wrong software name there but the first two files are 3D models.

Hi All,
Quick update - we&

;s fantastic submissions and growing public awareness for this design-community initiative. The goal is to ensure your concepts are actually used by real people/industry. The contest already has been covered + syndicated in dozens of news outlets including:

Hey @paulbaker, hopefully several community members are considering designs in the ventilator/accessories space (one of the uploads includes a valve). In addition, the ventilator space has good traction and the sites All3DP.com, 3DPrinting.com, and 3DPrintingIndustry.com cover a lot of those active initiatives.
A majority of the community designs focus on slowing the spread of the virus in the workplace and public spaces, which is a space lagging in design options. Inevitably, people will need to go back to work and visit public spaces. Prevention/slowing the spread is the goal and a lot of these designs will help people as they re-enter the workforce.

Can I make a suggestion, could you guy have a look at designing 3D printed replacement Noninvasive Ventilation Helmets, because stocks are very low
hello, this contest is fantastic, and very challenging.
I am working on my research to soon propose an interesting solution.
Hello , i have submitted my entry 3 times so let&
;s take last entry , thanks.

FYI. Masks DO NOT prevent the spread of the virus.
Hey @WyzeOwl, thanks for that suggestion :) The hackaday.io site has shared other useful resources in a spreadsheet - see https://bit.ly/2QEvZHi and https://bit.ly/2UuyUDv
SeeMeCNC has a really great idea which is a printable face shield and it is open source so designers can improve on the design. can see it on GitHub here https://github.com/seemecnc/Open-Source-Medical/tree/master/face%20shield?fbclid=IwAR0ybZQSWeNEDlI22IVb8QIMP4WT3xixmycZR7VRwLnXUomJUj4_aqoJuJE
Hey @Isaiah CAD, no worries, we&
;ll keep the contest open for the full 31-day duration.

Great initiative, my team and I are taking the time to do proper research and come up with something that can be printed easily, I hope this contest stays open till then
Oops...sorry.
Hi All, we added additional clarification notes to explain the goals of this contest (see "Additional Information" in the description area above). In the coming days, we&
;ll be reviewing designs + providing specific feedback to the designers have followed the requirements.
In the meantime, thanks for everyone&
;s patience and participation :)

In the meantime, thanks for everyone&

Sorry to have submit three times, I haven&
;t send a good version the first time and the Second time my web page was locked I thank that my submission was not send.

Please! stop sending ideas foolishly! better dig a little deeper, do research, and then propose! not that it seems that you want to take your old models out of the closet! xD It&
;s design! please gentlemen! if a logo can take more than a year to think about it! Okay it should be fast but the contest has plenty of time to do research and come up with substantiated ideas! well I think so! :)

Mr. DjayRC , this is an open source. Did you read the brief?
Really awesome project. Request for make it BLIND. So designs should be unique and original.

COVID-19 Classroom Safety and 3D Product Design Challenge (open-source designs)
Schools and colleges are under pressure to re-open after the Coronavirus lockdown temporarily shifted classes online. This can present a unique challenge for crowded classroom settings and the educational institutions will need to adapt.
We believe the Cad Crowd community can help slow the spread with open-source product designs specific to the educational environment. This virus prevention contest is a follow-up to the May challenge for the workplace and public spaces (https://www.cadcrowd.com/contest/2332-covid-19-coronavirus-product-design-and-3d)
The latest FDA advisory suggests that COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person, typically through respiratory droplets from coughing, sneezing, or talking. Experts indicate the risk of infection can be reduced with masks, physical distance, and barriers between individuals in spaces where groups of students gather.
The goal for this contest is to create open-source designs shared under Creative Commons that can be affordably produced with 3D printing and/or off-the-shelf components (pre-made parts, plexiglass, etc.).
Animal (and other) themed kettlebells
This is a competition to design animal (and other) themed kettlebells. It is important that there are no sharp edges and no protruding elements that could cause injury or get stuck on clothing. The design will also need to allow for our logo being evident on the back of the kettlebell. Whilst the logo has been attached, the designers are free to adjust it in size, position, and proportion as they deem suitable.
The size needs to be consistent with a normal sized competition kettlebell, which is easy enough for people to look up but as a rough guide: Handle Diameter: 33MM. Distance Between Handles: 123MM. Base Diameter: 140MM
The actual design can be representative or a bit cartoonish, depending on the aspirations of the designers
Nominated animals include:
A lion, leopard, elephant, rhino (all obviously flattened down in their contours for safety),
shark, eagle, dragons, snake, scorpion, crocodile, bear, wolf, Tyrannosaurus rex, Sabre toothed tiger, spider
This list is a guide and designers are welcome to choose other animals or themes
I do not require any primates and do not require skull designs

CAD Design of Lighter Prototype - 3D Vector Format
Hello:
My name is Jeff and I am producing lighter cases/sleeves. I would like to know if you can produce a 3D vector form from picture images (jpegs). I need the image in STL format for prototype.
The image (2 Sides) needs to be in RAISED RELIEF/SCULPTED so its dimensions can be felt by the user. Each side is somewhat small so the scupt does not need excessive detail.
I can send patent pend. pics for possible approval.
Thank you
Jeff
Interchangeable Battery Adapter Holster Pack - Industrial CAD Designer
Hello,
I need someone to help me make a interchangeable battery clip adapter where these Ryobi batteries (found from Home depot) clip into each other as seen in picture
It must be able to maintain enough room and functionality where the electrical terminals make proper contact.
The batteries in the picture are laid out exactly how I want it to clip into each other. Just fill in the space between the battery with the housing that I need for you to design. I also need an access port about 7mm in diameter.
The designer must already have access to these batteries which are common from home depot.
